Recycling is an essential action to reduce environmental impact. By choosing to recycle, we contribute to reducing the extraction of new resources, a process that normally consumes large amounts of energy and water and generates significant CO₂ emissions. In this way, each reused material means a smaller carbon footprint and a more conscious use of natural resources.
Furthermore, recycling promotes significant savings in water and energy. Producing metals from recycled materials requires less intensive processes than extracting and processing virgin minerals. This reduction not only minimizes environmental impacts, but also strengthens the circular economy, encouraging practices that preserve our planet and optimize available resources.
800 TCO2/YEAR
The production of metals from virgin raw materials releases large amounts of greenhouse gases. With the amount that União Metals recycles, we reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 800 tons per year.
40M Liters
Producing metals from virgin ores requires millions of liters of water for extraction, washing and processing. The Union recycles 150 thousand kg per year, saving around 40 million liters (ML) of water, helping to preserve this essential resource for life and environmental balance.
1.95M kWh
In one year, recycling 150,000 kg can save around 1.95 gigawatt-hours (GWh), this reduction in energy consumption alleviates the demand for non-renewable sources and makes metal production much more efficient.
In a sector historically dominated by men, we prove every day that strength, determination and competence have no gender. Of the 38 people who make our company happen, 22 are women, working in all areas — from the office to the line of operations, showing that recycling is also a female territory.
